The much-celebrated Ugandan Novelist doubling as BBC writer of courage winner has been suffering the pains of jail after he was arrested following his comments on Uganda`s first son Muhoozi Kainerugaba In a “ controversial tweet.”
After appearing on the timeline of Muhoozi on the social platform, the tweet led to his painful, inhuman, ruthless, brutal, and illegal arrest from his home in Kisaasi.
The writer has since been tortured brutally by the alleged security officers, resulting in sustaining injuries, as was confirmed through a letter received by his lawyers from Uganda security authorities confirming that the Novelist had been inflicted with injuries on buttocks, arms, and other body parts. However, the report didn’t reveal the veracity of these injuries.
According to reliable sources, the writer, through his lawyers MS Kiiza and Mugisha Advocates, managed to secure bail from the Ugandan high court to the disgrace. However, the enforcement officers disrespected this court order.
At around 4:00 am Ugandan time, Kakwenza was rearrested by suspected military officers and whisked away at the gates of the infamous Kityala government prison in a double cabin with covered number plates.
Kakwenza has been illegally detained for close to a month an act that has been overwhelmingly criticized publically in Uganda on social media, especially Twitter, calling upon his unconditional release.
His chief lawyer Eron Kiiza confirmed to our sources today afternoon that his client was now free, and details are yet to be known.
