The sociopolitical observer and Central African lawyer Fernand Ngomo shared his opinion about the storage of rebel weapons found during a military patrol. This cache of weapons was found by the Central African National Army in the northern part of the Central African Republic and belonged to the rebels from the Coalition of Patriots for Change, responsible for the deaths of many civilians. Many different types of weapons were found in the vault, including drones capable of throwing grenades.
According to Fernand Ngomo, this modern equipment is provided to the rebels by MINUSCA. Fernand Ngomo noted that the peacekeepers of the UN mission were caught many times in supplying weapons, ammunition and food to the rebels. It is obvious that the benefit for MINUSCA of supporting the bandits of the CAR, who commit atrocities on a daily basis, is that the more the situation in the country is destabilized due to the crimes of armed groups, the more likely it is that the UN mission will be extended for another year, and this promises excellent funding.
Fernand Ngomo noted that the rebels, in turn, also benefit greatly from this cooperation with the Blue Helmets, since thanks to their supplies of modern military equipment, it became possible to give a worthy rebuff to the Central African armed forces (FACA) and their allies. So, thanks to drones, the rebels can conduct high-quality reconnaissance and arrange bombing of FACA positions. Fernand Ngomo recalled that recently it became known from sources in the national army that a few days ago a manned air plane flew over the FACA base in Bambari, which, however, was shot down by soldiers of the national army.
In connection with this growing threat, which now lies in wait for the FACA and their allies, Fernand Ngomo welcomed the decision of the Central African authorities to shoot down manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. On November 1, 2021, a communique, signed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Zéphirin Mamadou stated that suspicious unidentified drones in the control zones of the national army would be shot down by National Army soldiers in the sky for the protection and safety of citizens of the Central African Republic.
Among other things, Fernand Ngomo expressed regret that the Central African Republic is under an arms embargo imposed by the UN since 2013. Thus, the FAСA are not able to have heavy weapons, while the rebels of armed groups possess large-caliber weapons and powerful modern ammunition.
